Because the city was home to the 1996 Summer Olympics, there are many incredible sports venues. The city opened the Centennial Olympic Games Museum to allow visitors to view memorabilia from the games and learn a bit of Olympic history. Sports fans can also take in an Atlanta Thrashers hockey game, Braves baseball game or practice or a Hawks basketball game. Atlanta will also host the 2007 NCAA Men’s Final Four.

Atlanta is steeped in history and there are examples of it throughout the city. From historic houses and buildings to countless galleries and museums there is plenty to satisfy even the most enthusiastic historian. The Atlanta History Museum is home to many interesting exhibits, including I Have a Dream – The Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection, which will run until May 2007. If you are interested in art there is no need to travel to Paris to visit the Louvre. The High Museum of Art has a partnership with the Musee du Louvre that allows it to display works from the Louvre’s collection until 2009.

No matter what your interest is, there is plenty to see and do in Atlanta. The Shakespeare Tavern features live plays for theater loves, focusing on Shakespeare works. The Georgia Aquarium is a fun experience for the whole family. It features 100,000 animals from 500 species around the world, from Beluga whales to sharks. For an on land experience visit the Kangaroo Conservation Center where visitors can see several species of kangaroos and wallabies up close.
